We are a non governmental organisation(NGO) registered with Australian Charities & Not For Profit Commision (ACNC) since 2017, our team is made up of diverse professionals with a multicultural focus who provide support services to all Australians who are disadvantaged including indigenous, Africans and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds who are at risk of or already experiencing mental health issues.
Evidence based practise is at the heart of what we do hence the organisation is staffed by qualified and registered professionals, volunteers and peers. The organisation is in the process of constituting an advisory board which will be providing advice and oversight and we are excited about partnering with communities and Elders who are part of the long term strategic vision.
Our Mission
To build inclusive communities where people living with mental illness, mental challenges and different mental abilities can access the treatment they need, with their basic rights recognised and respected.
Nokutenda Disability Foundation Team
Our 24 hour National Chatline is staffed by Credentialed Mental Health professionals who offer counselling, referrals to health promotion sessions and or referrals to other service providers who can assist best in managing your condition.
Our credentialed staff understand the cultural sensitivities required to tackle stigma and labelling that can be experienced by those from indigenous communities, African communities and other CALD background.
Our services are delivered in a professional manner that is consistent with evidence-based practise and observes international principles of confidentiality. The spirit of Ubuntu (the whole person approach) is embedded in our interactions with clients.
We offer early intervention and prevention strategies in limiting the development of, and suffering from chronic mental health, collaborating with likeminded charities, non-governmental organisations and State emergency services.
